What this policy covers

This page explains the cookies BOWTT uses on the website and web app. It does not cover advertising or analytics cookies, because BOWTT does not use any — every cookie described below exists to make the app work.

The cookies we use

BOWTT only sets strictly necessary cookies: small pieces of information stored in your browser so the app can function. We do not use these cookies to track you across other websites, and we do not sell or share them with advertisers.

• Session cookie — keeps you signed in as you move between pages during a visit. Without it, the app cannot tell that a request came from you.
• "Stay signed in" cookie — set only if you choose to remain signed in between visits, so you do not have to log in again every time. You can sign out at any time to remove it.
• Sign-out / security marker — a short-lived cookie used to detect when you have been signed out, including from another device, and to keep your session secure.
• Ride / Sail preference — remembers which part of the app you last used, so it can reopen where you left off.

Because these cookies are all necessary for BOWTT to work, we do not show a cookie consent form asking you to opt in to them — most cookie laws, including good practice under Kenya's Data Protection Act, only require consent for non-essential cookies such as advertising or analytics trackers, which BOWTT does not use.

Local storage and similar technology

The app may also use your browser's local storage, and on Android, a Trusted Web Activity wrapper, to remember things like whether you have installed the app or dismissed a notice. These work the same way as the cookies above: they support the app's function and are not used for advertising.

Managing cookies

Most browsers let you clear or block cookies through their settings. Because BOWTT's cookies are needed to keep you signed in and to keep the app secure, blocking them will likely mean some parts of BOWTT — such as staying logged in — will not work properly.

Changes to this policy

If the cookies BOWTT uses change in a way that matters, we will update this page.
